Five consecutive cards from William H. Rau’s 1902 comic stereoview series “Mr. & Mrs. Turtledove’s New French Cook,” published by Berry, Kelley & Chadwick, Philadelphia, on gray curved-top mounts. A staged Edwardian farce: the master of the house discovers the pretty new cook, gets flirty, and hears his wife coming. Great period kitchen detail – fleur-de-lis wallpaper, hanging spoons and ladles, rolling pin and dough bowl, and a dapper leading man in tails.
Cards included (numbered on each mount, “Copyrighted 1902 by William H. Rau”):
1. Mr. & Mrs. Turtledove’s New French Cook 2. “You Sweet Thing, When Did You Arrive?” 3. “Now Don’t Be So Shy!” 4. “Oh My! But You Are Lovely.” 5. “Sh! Sh! I Hear My Wife Coming.”
